ATCOR for IMAGINE - Technical Details

System Requirements

ATCOR for IMAGINE needs a running ERDAS IMAGINE license (Minimum: IMAGINE Advantage). ATCOR for ERDAS IMAGINE is available for PC systems only. It is supported on the same OS as the equivalent version of ERDAS IMAGINE.

Implementation of New Sensors

Your sensor is not listed? In case a sensor does not show up in the list, another sensor from the list can be selected instead, provided that it has the same (or very similar) spectral bands. A similar spatial resolution is not required. For sensors with tilting capabilities these options should also be similar.

New widely-used sensors are implemented as part of software updates.

In addition, new sensors can be integrated in ATCOR upon request. Please contact info@geosystems.de.

Metadata Required by ATCOR

To run ATCOR, information on the sun-/sensor geometry (azimuth and zenith angles, respectively) and on the sensor calibration, i.e. the band-specific calibration parameters gain and offset, are required. Geometry and calibration information can usually be found in the metadata files accompanying the original imagery delivered by the data providers.

If the sensor calibration parameters are not available, you can either use sensor-specific templates included in the ATCOR installation. Alternatively, they can be estimated with the SPECTRA module, which is part of ATCOR.

Further information

Spectra Module

The SPECTRA module of ATCOR enables you to display spectral signatures of selected targets chosen from the scene as a function of user-defined atmospheric parameters, such as visibility, and band-specific sensor calibration parameters. These signatures can be compared to spectra measured in the field or to reference spectra provided with ATCOR or from other databases.

With the SPECTRA module, the chosen atmospheric parameter settings can be checked and fine-tuned interactively prior to processing the whole image. For example, you can test several settings for the visibility parameter and find the most appropriate value.

The SPECTRA module may also be used to estimate the sensor calibration parameters (gain, offset) from scratch if they are not provided with the image data or to adjust already existing calibration parameters.
