Technological sovereignty for Europe and Germany is currently high on the political agenda. This also applies to space missions. The New Space Initiative of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) is already promoting a mobile offshore launch platform in the North Sea - specifically for small launch vehicles with micro-satellites. OHB SE is a key partner in this initiative.
As an OHB subsidiary, GEOSYSTEMS has developed a 4D real-time application for planning and monitoring the planned satellite launches in the Mission Control Center as part of a demo project. The app is based on Hexagon's Luciad platform. It maps the trajectories of the rocket in real time and checks whether the rocket launch disturbs marine protected areas or collides with ship and aircraft movements.
